Your key to the cloud.

Filesystem in Userspace (FUSE) based pseudo-drive to access files on Amazon S3, Rackspace cloud storage, or advanced data processing workflows.
Available for Mac OS X.

AuxFS allows simple and easy access to complex data processing workflows, remote cloud storage systems, or both. Treating everything as a file system with folders, files, and icons gives users a familiar interface allowing them quick and easy access to data in any application that can open a file (Word, Excel, Photoshop, SAS). Here are a few examples that exemplify the power of this product:

Example 1: Data Retention Policies for Archiving and Backup

Although your backup and archiving system is bullet proof and well tested, it is cumbersome and labor intensive for users to recover files. AuxFS provides an easy-to-use file system interface where users can navigate through folders representing backup sets using dates as the folder names. Users simply navigate through the hierarchy until they find the file they need and drag it to the desktop, at which point the recovery is complete - no need to contact the IT guy.

Additionally, AuxFS enables you to audit your archives, allowing you to see who has accessed them as well as the dates on which they were accessed.

Example 2: Corporate File Sharing Strategy

These days many corporations block email data transfers. Sending something as simple as a zip file may work well internally, but how do you get data to and from external users? In this scenario, users copy files to a personal folder in AuxFS, then send a link to these files in the email message. This password - protected link can be used outside the corporate network to access the files. In addition, AuxFS allows you to see when outside users have accessed the files.

Example 3: Website Content

Imagine a content management system (CMS) that would allow you to keep your website content in a Microsoft Word document. Editing your website would be as simple as opening the word document, making the necessary changes, and saving them. AuxFS can easily be adapted for this use.

AuxFS Automated Workflow Diagram

This figure shows how users have a simple hard disk like interface to a four-step automated workflow:

  • Data Processing
The data is pre-processed as part of the workflow. This may include steps such as documentation and auditing, or more complex processes like updating a website.
  • Encryption
Encryption can be a daunting task for a user who just wants to get things done. What we’ve done is added this capability as one of the automated steps in the work flow. This ensures everything going to remote storage is absolutely secure.
  • Compression
Compressing files can be time consuming but is well worth it when dealing with remote storage. It helps save you money.
